We are seeking a Clinical Technician II who will work under the supervision of and in collaboration with, the Perioperative Services management team, the Clinical Technician II is an individual with demonstrated clinical and technical experience and knowledge of operating room equipment and supplies. He/ she provides support to clinical staff of the operating room, anesthesia department, post anesthesia care unit and preop areas.
Manages assigned inventory, receives and stocks supplies/ equipment.
Act as a resource person in training and orientating personnel and provides input into evaluations as requested.
Ensure the order, functionality, availability and cleanliness of unit supplies and equipment.
Coordinate repairs and communicates to management critical maintenance information.
Participate in selected patient care activities such as room turnover, specialized equipment set up, patient preparation and transporting and discharge.
Participate in meeting the department's budgetary objectives.
Support the philosophy, objectives and goals of hospital administration and its representatives.
In this position you will:
Perform duties based on prioritization of patient needs as requested by anesthesia, nursing, and management.
Report equipment repairs involving regulatory compliance, patient safety, repetitive breakage, and lack of vendor response to need immediately to management.
Delegate and/or seeks assistance as necessary. Initiates education needs.
Demonstrate applied knowledge when providing anesthesia support, transportation of equipment to ancillary procedural areas, care and handling of machines, monitors and supplies.
Establish and maintains appropriate par levels for adult and pediatric anesthesia supplies. Orders and receives stock, participates in evaluation of new products, controls inventory, maintains an orderly work area.
Demonstrate competency in selected clinical skills including, but not limited to:
Procedure (i.e., room turnover duties, anesthesia set up, supply availability).
Equipment use and set up. (i.e., video, scopes, frames, fracture table, oxygen tanks, anesthesia circuits, troubleshooting monitors).
Assisting physician(s) with various patient care within scope of job description.
Participating in the training and orienting of newly hired personnel.
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regard to:
Attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality.
Positive public relation image and working relationships.
Obtaining the necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence.
Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety training, CPR, infection control and annual physical.
Participate in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals by:
Attending and participating in team meetings.
Volunteering or accepting assignment for projects.
Sharing knowledge with peers by functioning as preceptor in training newly hired personnel.
Abiding by mission, vision and team ground rules.
Demonstrate accurate documentation on unit forms, maintains current record of repairs and requests.
Removing defective equipment from service, informing management personnel and initiating maintenance and repair services without being so directed.
Providing essential equipment and supplies to operating rooms, PACU or 1West as requested or as needed in a timely manner.
Maintaining cleanliness, safety and functionality of each operating room (or assigned unit) on a daily basis.
Demonstrating competency in setting up anesthesia equipment.
Demonstrating competency in setting up pneumatic and electrical equipment.
Assisting physicians as requested (i.e. "holding the heart", assisting with patient prepping and positioning activities).
Transporting patients to and from the operating room, ASU or PACU as directed.
Recognizing patient need(s) and taking steps to ensure these needs are met (privacy, bathroom, emotional or physical) either through direct intervention or reporting such needs to the appropriate person.
Stocking and maintaining the inventory of supplies for each operating room (or assigned unit) as assigned.
Responding and participating in room turnaround & patient care activities promptly and effectively.
Being readily available to clinical staff at all times during the work shift.
Communicating pertinent information to the OR/PACU Director, Charge RN or other clinical staff in a timely manner so that problem resolution may take place without delay.
Functioning as a preceptor to newly hired personnel in a nurturing, positive and non-threatening manner.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
Current BCLS Healthcare Provider certification.
Four (4) years experience as operating room/perioperative clinical technician.
Possess skills of Clinical Technician levels I.
Medical terminology required.
Ability to learn technical skills and training for complex equipment.
Excellent service oriented interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills to access Medi-Tech system.
Telephone/Customer etiquette skills.
Knowledge of operation of pneumatic and electrical equipment.
Familiarity with surgical, post operative and anesthesia equipment and supplies.
