Providence Director, Women and Children Services in Santa Monica, California
Reporting directly to the Ministry Chief Nursing Officer, the Director, Women and Children Services, has responsibility for the operation of the Professional Nursing Practice within Women and Children Services. The Director, Women and Children Services directs nursing services by approval and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, standards and staffing plans.
As a member of the nursing leadership team, he/she assumes an active leadership role interdepartmentally, with the medical staff, and act as a key representative in Women and Children Services to the community on behalf of the CNO as deemed necessary.
With a constant focus on whole person care, quality, staff and patient safety, the Director, Women and Children Services maintains standards and systems for care delivery at their ministry. These systems of care delivery promote evidence-based practice and are designed to support the management of productivity targets, patient acuity, and appropriate planning for and use of available resources.
The Director is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation and associated business lines for the Women and Children vertical. In this capacity, the Director carries responsibility for assisting in development and integration of the Women and Children strategic plan with operations. The Director will exercise management responsibility over the acute care vertical, ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public and staff. This will either be done directly, or through delegation of responsibility to the management staff. The Director provides direct or indirect oversight of their day-to-day operations of the functional areas and rotates as Administrator on Call.

Communication & Relationship Building
Knowledge of the Health Care Environment
Academic degree in nursing required (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree)
Master degree in Nursing or related field required (Health Administration, Business, Public Health, or management).
A minimum of five years of nursing leadership experience is required.
The applicant will demonstrate progressive leadership and expertise in communication across disciplines, participative change management, managing group dynamics and managing performance improvement processes.
Active and current California registered nurse license
In depth current working knowledge of clinical practice and processes
Knowledge of organizational behavior; management systems and processes; nursing practice standards; clinical practice guidelines; regulations and ethics; healthcare economics; health and public safety; trends in business practice; consumer health care issues; healthcare evaluation and outcome measures; and fiscal management and finance.
Mobility to travel throughout the ministry and community.
Able to work varying hours and handle difficult situations when necessary.
Ability to clearly articulate the PSJH mission and vision
