We are seeking an Employee Health Nurse who will conduct pre-employment and annual employee physicals, assists in the processing of claims for work-related injuries and coordinates any necessary treatment, interacts with third-party administrator (TPA) and provides required assistance with investigation and documentation. The Employee Health Nurse also assists with the coordination of the Transitional Work Program, interfaces with the Employee Assistance Program to ensure maximum utilization by employees. The Employee Health Nurse is the lead coordinator of the flu vaccination and fit test programs.
In this position you will:
Conduct pre-employment physicals on all newly hired associates. Ensure new hires are properly evaluated to determine fitness for the position for which they have applied.
Conduct annual physicals on associates in accordance with all legal requirements.
Administer annual flu vaccinations.
Assist with the processing of workers’ compensation claims to ensure compliance with all legal requirements. Coordinate any necessary care for the associate. Notify Saint John’s Third Party Administrator (TPA) of associate claims to ensure they are processed timely.
Handle any blood-borne exposures promptly to ensure safety of the associates. Completes all necessary follow up.
Assist with the Transitional Work program.
Maintain medical records on each applicant and associate and ensures accurate charting of associate health information.
Maintain confidentiality of medical records in compliance with all legal requirements.
Keep abreast of all Joint Commission and Department of Health Services standards for employee medical records and ensure compliance with these standards as demonstrated by periodic assessments by these agencies.
Attend and actively participate in department meetings and events.
Promote the Employee Assistance Program as appropriate with associates.
Remain current and knowledgeable in the occupational health field. Attends educational seminars and conferences relating to employee health.
Provide in-services to employees and supervisors on health-related topics.
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regard to:
Attendance, punctuality and patient confidentiality.
Positive public relation image and working relationships.
Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence and certifications.
Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety programs, CPR, infection prevention and annual physical.
Participate in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals including:
Attending and participating in division meetings.
Volunteering or accepting assignments for projects.
Mission, vision and team ground rules.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current CA RN, RNP, or PA license
Six (6) months Staff RN, RNP, or PA.
Ability to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of cultural backgrounds and ages.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Proficient in P.C. software applications including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lawson, Medi-tech, Chart One, etc.
Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate work.
Ability to work effectively with many people at various levels of the organization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately prioritize.
Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, management, physicians, and visitors.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance to hospital policy.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree
Certified Occupational Health Nurse
Six (6) months employee health.
