Providence Health & Services Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Santa Monica, California

Description:

Providence is calling a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Part time/Variable shift) to Providence Saint John's Health Center Santa Monica, CA.

We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist who will be responsible for performing patient scans under the supervision of a nuclear medicine physician. Duties include calculating radioisotope dosages for administration to patients, operating radioscopic equipment, and practicing strict radiation safety.

In this position you will:

  • Perform patient and department assessment

  • Participate in goal directed plan based on outcomes

  • Implement role based on department and hospital standards

  • Participate in evaluating effectiveness of duties

  • Participate in identifying patient/significant other learning needs and demonstrate measures to meet these

  • Delegate to appropriate team members

  • Demonstrate applied knowledge when caring for selected patient populations including care appropriate to the age of patients served

  • Demonstrate competency in selected clinical skills including, but not limited to:

  • Perform nuclear scans including kidney perfusion and image, lung ventilation and perfusion, bone, left ventricular, and gastric emptying

  • Pet processing

  • Order, handle, and dispose of radioactive isotopes, according to established procedures

  • Accurately prepare and calculate doses of radioisotopes for diagnostics studies

  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regards to:

  • Attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality

  • Positive public relation image and working relationships

  • Obtain necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence

  • Complete all mandatory requirements, including annual safety films, CPR, state licensure, infection control and annual physical

  • Participate in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals including:

  • Attend and participate in team meetings

  • Volunteering or accepting assignment for projects

  • Mission, vision and team ground rules

  • Demonstrate documentation on patient care records and unit forms

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of an AMA approved radiologic technologist training program

  • Meet requirements for registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technologic Certification Board

  • 6 months experience during the last year, or a minimum of 2 years full-time experience with an absence from nuclear medicine of no more than 1 year

  • Ability to deal effectively with many people

  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and coordinate care

  • Must be able to compute radioactive isotope dosages

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year experience in nuclear medicine (not required if recent graduate from an approved technician training program)
