We are seeking a RN Specialty Coordinator - Ophthamology, ENT and Plastics with demonstrated leadership and administrative competence. The individual in this position will represent Saint John's Health Center and the Surgical Services Department by interpreting and applying policies and nursing practice guidelines, planning and coordinating day to day unit operations and assuming accountability for utilization of human and material resources by managing those resources within established budgetary guidelines.
In this position you will:
Demonstrate competency in surgical service-line specialty
Interface with surgeon's offices to facilitate accurate surgical scheduling and coordination of patient's perioperative needs
Participate in department interviews and provides feedback for hiring of potential caregivers for their service-line team
Collaborate with surgery manager and clinical supervisors concerning allocation of staff.
Evaluate appropriate practice for RNs and STs and reports to surgery manager as needed.
Responsible for annual staff SuccessFactors discussions for those caregivers that are within their service-line team.
Participate in the orientation, training and on-going assessment of the clinical skills of service-line team members.
Maintain all surgeon preference cards within their service-line.
Audit of processes and practices within service-line and maintenance of a CQI program inclusive of medication accuracy and administration, room turnover time, time from in room to first incision, specimen documentation, use of disposable items and cost containment, as well as other metrics and practices as assigned by the Surgery Manager.
Physician on-boarding and orientation to the perioperative departments.
Collaborate with sterile processing department leadership to maintain and review service-line instrumentation.
Perform quarterly review of service-line inventory with REH to update for current needs and assess areas for cost and par level reduction.
Maintain contract compliance for all service-line products inclusive of disposables, implants and capital equipment, focusing on the principle of Triple Aim.
Manage the new product request (NPR) process for disposables.
Research and presents capital equipment requests to the executive leadership team
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by the Surgery Manager
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current RN license in State of California
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
2 years previous acute care operating room experience at a staff level
2 years expertise in specialty area of coordination - Ophthalmology, ENT and Plastic Surgery
Ability to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of backgrounds and ages
Ability to prioritize, organize, delegate and coordinate patient care activities
Familiarity with personnel management/supervisory techniques
Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory agency requirements
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
2 years previous experience in a progressive leadership role
