Providence is calling a Full Time, Variable Shift Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow to Providence John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA.
In this position you will:
Be a highly motivated, self-starting Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow with strong team capabilities in the area of cancer genomics and epigenomics
Develop translational research projects primarily related to epi-transcriptomics and epi-genomics applied to human solid tumors Will lead projects focused on the epi-transcriptome, DNA methylome, and chromatin accessibility variations during breast cancer dynamic adaptation to metastasis niches and drug resistance phenotypes
Perform genomic and epigenomic profiling, functional culture assays and molecular biochemistry analysis related to projects
Perform genetic perturbations and epigenome editing using the CRISPR system
Scientific research manuscript and grant writing
Guide technicians and postdoctoral fellow research
Comply with hospital, department and unit standards, including, but not limited to safety, CPR, infection prevention, quality management, environmental, confidentiality and patient care
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regard to:
Attendance, punctuality and patient (HIPPA) confidentiality
Positive public relation image and working relationships
Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence and certifications
Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety programs, CPR, infection prevention and annual physical
Participate in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals including:
Attending and participating in division meetings
Mission, vision and team ground rules
Required qualifications for this position include:
Doctoral degree, PhD or MD in the field of Oncology or molecular biology.
At least two years of postdoctoral work experience in cancer research pertinent to translational epigenomic/genomic research studies.
Strong background in molecular biology preferably related to epigenomics or epi-transcriptomics.
Publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of genetics, genomics, and cancer research or related.
Experience in basic molecular genetic laboratory assays such as cell culture, sequencing, primer/probe designing, etc.
Experience in performing in silico data mining and sequence analysis interpretation
Experience in independent cancer research, manuscript writing skills, and conference presentations
Excellent understanding of genomics, epi-transcriptomics and epigenomics
Ability to use computer software programs such as R or Python, database and genome sequencing programs, molecular analytical programs and use of scientific databases
Strong understanding of biostatistics
Must be highly familiar with and able to develop new molecular genetic studies. The individual must understand the theoretical background in molecular genetics of cancer
Must have an excellent understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in cancer metastasis and therapeutic resistance.
Must have the ability to present results and write up completed research into well-organized reports and manuscripts.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in epigenomic related assays: DNA methylation, microRNA, and histone modifications
